The exhibition has been held since 1994 with the support of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Government of St Petersburg, trade unions, and transport associations. The main topics for this year are increasing competitiveness, attracting investments, promoting sustainability, raising the level of technical equipment for ports, innovative approaches to the development of such equipment, and the transfer of leading world-class technologies.
This year, for the first time in conjunction with the TRANSTEC exhibition, the International Conference for the Development of Ports and the Shipping Industry is being held at Lenexpo. This Conference is focused on the further development of Russian policy in the field of transport; it also addresses the implementation of the Naval Doctrine of the Russian Federation as it relates to fostering conditions to further increase Russia’s share of shipping in international trade.
Among the key events in the conference programme are a round table entitled ‘Development of Shipping on Russia’s Inland Waterways’, the meeting of the Modern Port Equipment and Technology for Loading and Unloading at Sea Ports ASOP Committee, and presentations by the Transport Union of the North-West.
On 4 October at 12:00, presentations on the Neva 2013 and TRANSTEC 2014 sea and transport congress and exhibition projects will be given. According to the tripartite general agreement signed by the organisers of ExpoForum, Dolphin Exhibitions (UK), and TRANSTEC Neva Exhibitions, starting in 2014 the TRANSTEC Forum and Neva Exhibition will be held in the new ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre, construction of which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2013.
