Russian Transport Ministry to make Sviazhsky first Russian Port-Centric River Port

The Russian Ministry of Transport has proposed to make a logistic centre in Sviyazhsk River Port Hub

Sviyazhsk interregional multimodal logistic center (SMMLTS), which opened in 2015, is able to become a major transit point of export-import cargoes to all regions of the Volga region, as well as a river port hub for transportation of goods on the international transport corridors. This opinion was Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov expressed during the expanded board meeting of the Ministry of Transport and Roads of the Republic of Tatarstan, January 29, 2016.

Sokolov stressed that SMMLTS was truly a unique project because it is the first logistics hub, based on the capacity of the river port.

Sviyazhsk interregional multimodal logistics center for the organization of acceptance, temporary storage, processing, distribution, registration documents and send cargo to the destination by different modes of transport on the basis of logistics technology, service international freight traffic along the corridors “East – West” and “North – South” inter-regional freight traffic.
