LENMORNIIPROEKT and GUMH to Sign Cooperation Agreement at TRANSTEC 2014

The LENMORNIIPROEKT and State University of Sea and River Fleet Admiral S.O. Makarov in a festive atmosphere will sign a cooperation agreement.

On October 1, 2014, in the framework of the International Exhibition TRANSTEC 2014 and the 4th International Conference on the Development of Ports and Shipping, LENMORNIIPROEKT and The State University of Sea and River Fleet Admiral S.O. Makarov in a festive atmosphere will sign a cooperation agreement. The ceremony will be held at 1400 hours before the breakout session “Engineering and design development of sea ports and infrastructure of inland waterways”, the organizers and the main participants of which will be LENMORNIIPROEKT and GUMH, named after Admiral S.O. Makarov.

“The goal of our agreement is the development and sharing of educational, innovative and intellectual potential “LENMORNIIPROEKT” and the University. In cooperation we plan the organisation of joint scientific research in the field of hydraulic engineering, architecture, construction and environmental training activities for additional professional education, as well as the possibilities to implement theprogrammes of the graduate school”, – said General Director of JSC “LENMORNIIPROEKT” Vladimir Merzlikin.

“In the framework of the implementation of the Transport strategy of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030, special attention is paid to the development of transport education, science, innovative technologies,” said the University rector Baryshnikov. “We hope the session, organized by the University and by us will be held in a constructive and creative atmosphere and will contribute to the integration of education, science and business”.

An important point of the forthcoming signing of the document on cooperation will be the opportunity of the organization of practical training of students and graduates of the University in one of Russia’s largest institutions for design seaports, terminals and transportation systems. This will allow future professionals to gain significant skills in production, and we look at the most promising interns as potential employees of the Institute.

The signing of the cooperation agreement will enhance the quality of higher education, scientific research, and as a consequence, the development and strengthening of professional capacities of the personnel reserve in the field of Maritime engineering.

The LENMORNIIPROEKT is the historical successor of the Commission on commercial ports of the Ministry of communications, founded in 1885, the Institute is the leading Russian designer seaports, terminals and transportation systems. LENMORNIIPROEKT has participated in the construction, reconstruction and modernization of 90% of Russia’s sea ports.

The federal state budgetary educational institution of higher professional education “State University of sea and river fleet Admiral S.O. Makarov is the largest University in Russia training to ensure the activities of sea and river fleet. The University was created as a result of reorganisation by merging the State Maritime Academy named after Admiral S.O. Makarov to the St. Petersburg state University of Water Communications and renamed in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Transport of Russia dated 11.09.2012, No. 341.
